What to Expect When Hiring an Interior Designer

Thinking about hiring an interior designer? Here’s what to expect during the initial process!

You have thought about it and thought about it and finally decided- that’s it! I need a professional to help me with my house! Let me call this amazing firm, Jade N. Timmerman Interiors, and get her over here immediately!

Here, at JNT Interiors, we love that kind of enthusiasm, but we do have a few initial steps before you are officially a client.

Step 1: Visit our website and fill out a quick questionnaire. The questionnaire has just a few questions on some important details, like name, address, what type of project, budget, and timeline. Once we receive that client inquiry submission, you move onto the next step.

Step 2: Once your initial questionnaire is received at our office, you get an email from us with a copy of our Investment Guide as well as a more in-depth questionnaire, where we deep dive into what style you love, how you need your home to function, questions about you including where you love to shop, how you describe your personal style, etc.

Our Investment Guide is a helpful document for potential clients that gives a glimpse into how we work at JNT Interiors and helps potential clients make the decision if we are the right fit for them and their project.

Step 3: Once we receive your in-depth questionnaire, we take the time to review all the answers and you get a call from our office and we discuss the project further.

Step 4: The next step for our firm is to review the questionnaires as well as our notes from our initial phone call regarding your project. We look at your scope, timeline, budget, and current client load and decide if we are the right designer for your project. If we are unable to take you on, have no fear, we have a great contact list of amazing designers to refer you to.

If all the boxes are checked and we know we would be a great fit, you get an invite to schedule a complimentary in-office consultation with Jade.

Step 5: Almost there! Jade Timmerman, the owner, and principal designer sits down with you and reviews your scope as well as floor plans, inspiration images, as well as budget, and timeline. These are all the most important building blocks of information needed to start a successful project so please come prepared!

Step 6: This is the last step on your way to becoming a part of the JNT family! We take all of the information gathered from all of the steps below and we put together an in-depth, comprehensive design services agreement that outlines all the steps of your project.

You also receive a Welcome Guide that outlines the process once you become an official client. Sign the agreement and you are in! And now it’s time for your project to start!

It seems like sooo many steps just to hire a designer but all of these steps are crucial in setting up the expectations between designer and client and ensuring a positive, collaborative experience that culminates in the home of your dreams!
