New Year, New Project!

There’s nothing like kicking off a new project at the beginning of the year! It’s exciting to have something fresh and new to work on and it gets the creativity going. The latest project on my books is going to be a good one…it’s a renovation project on the cutest bungalow home just down the road from my office. So it gets points for getting me to walk more and drive less (new year= fitness goals, right?)! The home is needs a little love and updating and with a new floor plan configuration, including a kitchen overhaul, bright and shiny new bathrooms, and new storage solutions, I know the client is going to be over the moon with the results!

The client is part of what makes this project so fun! She is full of life and with her kids growing older and leaving the nest, this home update signifies the start of the next chapter in her life and I am so glad she has asked me to be a part of it. Her style is clean and classic with pops of color and whimsy thrown in. Here’s the moodboard I put together to start the project and will refer to it frequently throughout the process to make sure we are headed on the right path. Stay tuned for more on this project throughout the year!

Project Reveal... Classic, Casual Style with Family in Mind

One of the highest compliments a designer can get is a repeat client. It means the trust is there, the vision is there, and the client knows that with complete certainty that you are going to design a space that they are going to love.

I had the pleasure of helping with the design and renovation of my client’s former home and we transformed the house and made it more functional for their young family as well as captured the design aesthetic the homeowner was wanting to infuse into the home. A few months later, I get a call from my clients and they love their newly re-designed home but decided they wanted a change in location. They found a gorgeous lot to build a new home on and I was their gal in helping them make all the finish selections as well as furniture selections throughout the new home.

The client’s new home reflects their style completely…they love a clean, lined look but still want to maintain a warm and cozy feeling throughout the home. We designed the home to have a classic, neutral base and added small pops of color. They have 2 active young boys so durability was key in selecting furniture and fabrics…rustic finishes on case goods and performance fabric on upholstery was a must.

Here a few shots of the recently completed project! Love the finished space and I know I captured everything the client’s were envisioning for the new home!

Back to Blogging!

Once upon a time, many, many years ago, I was a pro at blogging. I had started my interior design blog, Flip Flops and Pearls Design, almost 9 years ago, after I had my first daughter. I had taken some time off from work but still wanted to stay up to date in the interior design field and my blog allowed me to talk about what I love, what inspires me, and also offer tips for design lovers as well.

Fast forward to now, and I now have 3 kids, a design business of my own, I let my blogging go to the wayside. I miss the platform it gave me to inform readers and inspire them. So, I am back!

For a trip down memory lane, you are more than welcome to check out my previous blog, “Flip Flops and Pearls Design.” I love seeing how styles have changed since those days!

Now onto a new chapter, where my blog will be tied to my design firm, where I will share tips, inspiration, glimpses into the design process, as well as a few of my other favorite things.

Welcome and I hope you enjoy!
